About Reading Time
Reading time is usually estimated as word count ÷ words per minute (WPM). Average reading speed for adults is about 200–250 WPM for normal prose. This tool counts words by splitting on whitespace (same as a typical word counter), then divides by your chosen WPM to get minutes. For times under one minute we show seconds. Useful for blog "X min read" labels, content planning, and study time estimates.
How to use
- Paste or type your text in the box.
- Optionally change Words per minute (default 200).
- Word count and reading time update as you type (or on input).
